Media Changer Tutorial and User's Guide
Introduction
The media-changer software was originally conceived to run multi-tape
8mm devices such as the 10 tape stacker and the 45 tape dual-drive carousel unit. Original coding was done by Rusty Wilson and the code has since been assumed by Joe Wade, who has added the functionality to drive the 7 tape DLT units and, conceivably, any other devices using the SCSI channel for jukebox communication.
Functionality
Original design was a simple command line or script interface containing
a basic set of commands for tape manipulation. Administrator functions were performed by logging on in an administrative capacity. These functions are used to do original configuration for a jukebox device. The example scripts listed below can be saved and modified (ie. tape drive unit definition or number of units) to use in setting up jukebox devices.
The version number on Exabyte EXB-10i units must be determined to set up the chd configuration correctly. This may be accomplished through the use of a raw communication utility called exbcomm
